About Us

The History

Several years ago, Pat and Brenda retired to Florida, feeling their days in NY were behind them. Soon thereafter, they decided to buy a cottage on Seneca Lake, where their family has a history since 1930. The plan was to visit Seneca Lake for 2 months a year and live in Florida - live in shorts year around. After buying their cottage, they discovered that the Inn was for sale in July, 2005. Because of it's beautiful and scenic setting, the Inn aroused great interest. The decision was made to "go for it". They immediately had a vision for the Inn to create a southern cottage style decor [Brenda is from Savannah, Georgia and is a gifted decorator] - to make it unique - to create a very comfortable and relaxed place reminiscent of places in the south in the early 1900's.

Over the first 2 years of ownership, the existing Castle Point Motel was painstakingly redone as envisioned, including completely redoing and upgrading the water system, the heating, electric and plumbing, and adding air conditioning. The result is a very charming and peaceful place, renamed The Savannah House Inn.

Cottage History

We began adding cottages in 2007. As we and several of our children bought cottages over a period of 8 years, we completely remodeled and upgraded them and included them in our rental options. Like the Inn, they are well maintained and have become very popular with our guests.

From the Innkeepers

The Savannah House Inn has the atmosphere of a boutique hotel and sits on 26 very scenic acres overlooking Seneca Lake in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country and the Finger Lakes Beer Trail. We offer 8 private Queen guest rooms and one Deluxe Jacuzzi Suite plus 4 lake front cottages and 4 lake view cottages. Each room and cottage is individually decorated in a southern cottage style décor. Our rooms and cottages are exceptionally clean and guests often comment that they feel like oxygen, fresh air and like home. They often say that their sleep was the best they had experienced in a long time.

The Savannah House Inn is the perfect place for romantic getaways, girls & bachelorette groups, family reunions, anniversary celebrations, and groups of friends touring the Wine Trail and/or Beer Trail. It is possible to stay together as a group in the same facility and to gather as a group on our grounds and have plenty of space and privacy to socialize and relax. Enjoy the charcoal grills, fire pits, picnic area and grill/smoker. With access to Seneca Lake, hiking trails on site, horseback riding, the state boat launch and dozens of local wineries and breweries, you are sure to enjoy your stay at our Inn and Cottages.

The Savannah House Inn strives to be the first choice for visitors to upstate New York's beautiful wine country. We look forward to providing our guests with the highest level of service and a very comfortable and homey accommodation.

Pat and Brenda
Owners and Innkeepers

Our mission is to provide accommodations that feel like each guest is the first person to stay in them. Pat and Brenda have 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. They live at the Inn year around and personally run the Savannah House Inn and cottages, thus assuring the highest level of service. Previous to this, Pat and Brenda had redone a number of interesting buildings, including the old Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Virginia in 2002. They also own an awesome 200 year old historic mansion near the lake, built in the early 1800's and which they plan to renovate into a spectacular home in the not too distant future.

The Hokes look forward to welcoming their guests to The Savannah House Wine Country Inn and Cottages and providing a first class visit!
